Brian and Mirte Longridge are counselors, teachers and psalmists. His wife also did "where there is no doctor" training, and is a massage therapist. They are working with leprosy patients (have a church too w them) and started a church in a heavy crime prison. They also do music lessons there- sing out the Father's heart over them etc. They do feedings with the homeless and counseling. Brian and his wife are the directors of HEALING RIVERS INTERNATIONAL. BELOW IS SOME OF THEIR WORSHIP MUSIC
The Longridges
The story of two people who are musicians, counselors, met in Bible school, spent their honeymoon in a leprosy camp in the mountains of Indonesia for two months- this changed them because the piercing longing eyes of Christ looking back at them through the people with leprosy, which did not let them go... Now they spend their lives with them.
They started a church with the leprosy patients, and also started one in the heavy crime prison where they worship with them and do bible studies. Mirte massages the ladies in the leprosy place, they love to sing God's heart over them, and worship with them (Mirte is also a musician). They do bible studies, especially on letting Christ express through them to the patients around them, also spend time just being with them and loving on them. Physical touch is very important because of severe rejection and pain these people go through. Also when they can, they give milk powder, fruits, vitamins and needed things (where ever possible), they worship together and teach on the importance of a relationship with God and being connected to the Father who loves them..
There have seen a lot come to Christ, also in the prison. They are so thankful to see almost weekly people come forward w tears in their eyes. In the prison they teach music, also worship w them, sing the Father's heart over them, sometimes prophetic. They talk a lot on hate, forgiveness, love, not judging others and letting God tenderize our hearts again..."We want them to drench themselves with the Presence of God and become not just people withhead knowledge, but Presence carriers, people who know to sit at His feet and wait on Him..
Brian Longridge is an Irish pianist, who, as some say, when he plays, there is not a dry eye in the room... He studied at the renowned Berklee college of Music, in Boston, and growing up in Northern Ireland, as an 11 year old got an award for the highest grades in his classical exams for Great Britain. He has been playing on the radio since 12 years old. He has done film scoring for the BBC and studied under a Carnegie Hall player. He has performed concerts in different parts of the world.
This was not just technicality, but there is something about the way, the melodies and sensitivity that he plays with, often with tears running down his face that just stirs your emotions.
Being born with a paralyzed eyelid, he grew up having a heart for people who have gone through pain or rejection, and after their honeymoon has carried this into his lifestyle...
Ever since him and his wife spent their 2 month honeymoon in a leprosy camp in Indonesia, living with them for two months, rotting smell being a daily usual- sometimes taking maggots out of their wounds, teaching them hygiene etc, caused his heart to beat for the poor- and he was ruined to this life on way to fame; but instead dedicated his life to the poor.
He still records music, which is available worldwide- free for the poor, or those who cannot afford buying his music-
They have been reaching the hurting for the last 19 years. He and his wife, Mirte, (who is also a musician) from Holland, have worked in Amsterdam with drug addicts and street people, and also in India with people who have leprosy. They have three daughters, Rebecca, Jasmine and Leesha, of which Jasmine, the middle was born in India. Rebecca studies in the Netherlands.
They also have been trained in counseling and his wife did massage therapy which she uses with leprosy ladies. They are currently working in the Philippines. They helped set up a the Cebu House of Prayer which started in their house 6 yrs ago, (opened officially 4 years ago ) and is now going almost full time, led by Shawn Maragni.
Bringing Christ to the poor they see as an important part of prayer lifestyle, since prayer is "Loving on Christ". When they see Christ, looking back at them through the eyes of the suffering, it is therefore a form of prayer ....
They are firm believers of "people don't care how much you know, unless they know how much you care". "In India I used to do concerts for the rich, and have houses built for the poor" says Brian, but there is not an bit of haughtiness about him, and his Irish sense of humor always makes people around him laugh.
